Terraria Server Setup Guide

Setup

  1. Deploy a game server and select Terraria
  2. Starter tier works for up to 16 players
  3. Choose your world size (Small, Medium, Large)

Configuration

Built-in Configuration - You set this up when you start the campaign and can edit it in the Settings tab of the game panel:

  • Version - Terraria server version, or latest for the newest
  • Max Players - Maximum concurrent players
  • World Name - Name of your world
  • Difficulty - 0=Normal, 1=Expert, 2=Master, 3=Journey
  • Message of the Day - Message shown to players who join
  • World Seed - Optional
  • Password - Server password for private games
  • NPC Stream - Number of NPCs to stream per update cycle

Other settings can be changed by manually editing serverconfig.txt

tModLoader

For modded Terraria:

  1. Select tModLoader or TShock as the server type in Startup
  2. Install mods via the file manager
  3. Players need matching mods installed on their client

World Management

  • Worlds are saved automatically
  • You can upload existing worlds via SFTP
  • Back up your world before major changes or mod installations

Connecting

Players connect via MultiplayerJoin via IP using your server's IP address and port.
